LG CNS, the leader in Korea’s big data market, sets out on its journey to a new big data ecosystem.

LG CNS announced on Tuesday (Jan. 19) its launching of “ODPia” (compound word taken from Open Data Platform and Utopia) which is a big data sharing platform wherein not only professionals but all people search for big data for analysis with ease.

ODPia analyzes the data discussed on social media channels in real time and provides lifestyle trends and corporate reputation developments on social media. It processes public data by region and provides refined data as well as supplies advanced big data analysis based on connection analysis between datasets.

On this platform, users may use, share, or sell related apps and services and communicate with one another regarding news and reviews of big data.

The URL of ODPia is www.odpia.org, which is readily usable after signing up.

ODPia’s 4 menus are: △Social Analysis △Data Alliance △App & Service △Education.

“We plan to make ODPia the ultimate hub of data analysis platforms by continuing to collect and incorporate datasets in shopping, credit cards, Fin Tech, medicine, and other professional data areas”, LG CNS Big Data Business Consultant Jinhyeong Lee said.

In fact, LG CNS became the first in the industry to put in place an organization dedicated to big data in 2011; it released over 10 big data solutions including the “Smart Big Data Platform (SBP)”, Korea’s first integrated big data solution, and “SBP Appliance”, a big data analysis platform in 2012, leading Korea’s big data market.

In June 2013, the company entered the Chinese big data market with its social media analysis solution dubbed “Smart SMA”, expanding its business across the borders.

Social Analysis

Social Analysis provides analysis of approximately 2 million pieces of social data discussed daily on mass media, blogs, and SNS as a “Social Map” that provides lifestyle-related big data at a glance.

With 8 main themes including “Life”, “Place”, “Time”, and “People”, 46 sub-themes, and over 250 detailed properties, the results of big data analysis are provided in real time, and users may click a keyword that they want to search for the original texts.

It also provides the “Social Index”, which showcases the general interest level and reputation of a corporation on social media. It ranks among the top 10 corporations based on analyses of 1,000 corporations in Korea in terms of the number of buzzes, positive/negative comments, weights of media, and location compared to the category average.

In addition, it follows the interest level and reputation of a company, a product, or an advertisement model by date and provides detailed analysis including social link words, emotional influence (positive/negative), social positioning map, social index trend, etc., which are expected to be useful to the marketing and PR sections of various corporations.

Data Alliance

Data Alliance provides 879 datasets for cross-analysis based on coded and standardized local data instead of merely offering access to open data from the linked public institutions. For instance, if you want to cross-analyze the datasets of “percentage of high school students entering college” and “total apartment’s prices” with standardized local codes, you can analyze the relations between these two factors.

App & Service

App & Services provides a space for sharing apps and services for big data analysis.

Users may try apps, promote certain apps and algorithms among members, or sell them to other users after the registration and authorization steps.

Education

The Education menu provides education and certification program services for analysts, including “data collection technologies” and “text analysis practicum”.
